The success of any competitive sport depends very much on the quality of its support structures. This section of Saskatchewan Speed Skating relates to officiating, a major structural component of the sport of speed skating.

As with the sport of speed skating itself, the administrative structure of speed skating officiating has an international component, governed by the International Skating Union, ISU, a Canadian national component, governed by Speed Skating Canada and a provincial, or branch component, governed by the Saskatchewan Speed Skating Association.

The goals of Saskatchewan speed skating officials are aligned with the goals of the other levels, which include ensuring there are available and qualified officials through the education, training and accreditation of the various types of speed skating officials. These various areas are explored further in the subsequent sections of this website.
